The Holy Communion
Okay okay, I know. We have not sent out a single publication in over a year, but it was a long 2024. The major take away is that mysterious things happened against all odds, noticeably, Donald John Trump winning the 2024 election by a landslide to become U.S.A's 47th president. Shocker!
In any event, people continued to live their lives, eat good foods and enjoy the pleasantries of one another. Meanwhile, I started working at a new alcohol manufacturing company which is mildly odd because I am a teetotaller, since I parted ways with alcohol on my disastrous adventurous night with friends on a major bridge in Lagos, Nigeria, not today dear reader, I'll share that fiasco some day.
Although it is not my dream job, the exigency of the employment led me to physically albeit temporarily impair myself. I am grateful for the experience in fact, but you see, I work in sales which requires driving long distances, carrying the products and basically selling the products. All these are expected, but driving a manual or shift for the Americans caused me swollen feet, back and buttocks pains.
Frustration began to set in when demands for target deliveries became heightened. I could not meet my targets because I was new to the alcohol industry and did not know where to go and sell gin, whisky, bitters, café rum, and schnapps without credit or merchandise, this is not to say my managers are not kind and understanding, but they had their own marching orders so everybody bore some degree of pressure.
Desperate, I turned to the only reliant One I know, God! The most difficult issue I had was consistency in prayers to fully describe my situation to Him, so I was told by my pastor to eat and drink the metaphoric body and blood of Jesus Christ symbolized with bread and wine, and to always check in on the next phase of the plan in prayer. I did not skip a beat with this one, in the end, as promised everything worked together for my good and His glory.
So, I began to wonder what really got things settled? Was it the faith- prayer-was it the metaphoric body and blood, or was it just time passing and with hard luck? I'm not fooling myself, I'm going with faith on this one, because it was the way the issue was settled that mattered, not that it did.
Faith got me to pray and eat the bread and wine. This meal also called communion represents the existence of Jesus Christ in a believer's life and the love He shows to us everyday. It is important to note that when Jesus invited people to eat His body and drink His blood many disciples went away from him, mostly from disgust and disbelief, which is why the Bible says that the foolishness of God is wiser than men in 1 Corinthians 1:25. I'm sure by now you know I am Christian, and it is scriptures like this that keep me going. I eat the communion to show Jesus Christ that I have not forgotten Him, and believe that He did not forget me just like He promised in Hebrews 13:5.
So during this Lent, while you stagger and struggle to hold fast, remember Jesus did the fast too while on earth, and after the fast eat communion and remember that He remembers you.
